1 Czechoslovakia had ratified CERD on 29 December 1966, CCPR on 23 December 1975, CCPR OP 1 on 12 March 1991, CESCR on 23 December 1975, CEDAW on 16 February 1982, CAT on 7 July 1988, CRC on 7 January 1991, and subsequently Czechoslovakia dissolved into the states of Czech Republic and Slovakia. In a letter dated 16 February 1993, the Government of the Czech Republic, as a successor state, notified the Secretary-General that it considered itself bound, as of 1 January 1993, i.e., the date of dissolution of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, by multilateral international treaties to which the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was a party on that date.
2 In its concluding observations adopted in May 2004, the Committee Against Torture requested that the State party submit additional information within one year, and recommended that the State party submit a combined fourth and fifth periodic report on 31 December 2009.
3 The Committee Against Torture made a request for further clarification (see A/62/44, page 91). Subsequently, on 14 January 2008, the State party submitted further information (CAT/C/CZE/CO/3/Add.2). On May 6, 2011, the Committee made another request for further clarification (see A/66/44 (2011) at page 141).
4 The fourth and fifth periodic reports were submitted together as one document.
