1 On 3 October 1990 the Federal Republic of Germany notified the Secretary-General that through the accession of the German Democratic Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany, with effect from 3 October 1990, the two German states had united to form one sovereign state, to act in the United Nations under the designation “Germany”.

3 In its concluding observations adopted at the January-February 2009 session, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women requested that further information be submitted within two years, and invited the State party to submit a combined seventh and eighth periodic report in September 2014.
