Decision by the Human Rights Committee concerning the third periodic report of Iraq

DECISION*

The Human Rights Committee,

Noting that the third periodic report of Iraq was due for submission to the Committee on 4 April 1990,

Taking into consideration the recent and current events in Iraq that have affected human rights protected under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,

Acting under article 40, paragraph 1 (b) of that Covenant,

1. Decides to request the Government of Iraq to submit its third periodic report without delay for discussion by the Committee at its forty-second session in July 1991 and, in any event, to submit by 15 June 1991 a report, in summary form if necessary, relating in particular to the application at the present time of articles 6, 7, 9 and 27 of the Covenant;

2.        Requests the Secretary-General to bring this decision to the attention of the Government of Iraq.
