225. The Committee began consideration of the second periodic report of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (CCPR/C/28/Add.16) at its 1275^th and 1276^th meetings (see CCPR/C/SR.1275 and 1276), held on 26 October 1993. Because of time constraints, the Committee could not conclude the consideration of the report. At the request of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, the Committee agreed to take it up again at its fifty-first session. However, by a note dated 3 May 1994, the Permanent Mission of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the United Nations Office at Geneva requested a further postponement of the consideration of that report because of a lack of information from the Libyan specialized institutions. The Chairman of the Committee met the Chargé d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya on 19 July 1994 and conveyed to him the Committee's wish to resume consideration of the report at its fifty-second session, to be held at Geneva from 17 October to 4 November 1994 and, in any event, to adopt relevant comments at that session.
