Considering that communications Nos. 359/1989 and 385/1989, submitted to the Committee for consideration under the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by John Ballantyne, Elizabeth Davidson and Gordon McIntyre, refer to closely related issues affecting the authors and which arise from the same legislation,
1. Decides, pursuant to rule 88, paragraph 2, of its rules of procedure, to deal jointly with these communications;
2. Further decides that his decision shall be communicated to the State party and the authors of the communications.
