2 In the case of CERD - Article 14; CCPR - Article 41; CEDAW OPT - Article 10 (Re: Articles 8 and 9); CAT - Articles 21, 22 and 28 (re: Article 20); CAT OPT - Article 24 (Re: Parts III and IV); CMW - Articles 76 and 77; and Enforced Disappearances - Articles 31, 32 and 42, the State has the option of making a “declaration” in accordance with the terms of the respective Convention.

4 The former Yugoslavia had previously ratified CERD on 2 October 1967, CCPR on 2 June 1971, CESCR on 2 June 1971, CEDAW on 26 February 1982, CAT on 10 September 1991 and CRC on 3 January 1991. Subsequent to dissolution , the Government of Croatia deposited with the Secretary-General notifications of succession to these treaties, with effect from 8 October 1991, the date on which Croatia became an independent state.
