PUBLIC MEETINGS

The present document contains the corrections received from members of the Committee, delegations and the Secretariat applying to the English text of the summary records of the public meetings of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at its fiftieth session (CERD/C/SR.1185-1191, 1192-1212, 1213/Add.1 and 1214).

The Committee also held two closed meetings, the summary records of which (CERD/C/SR.1191/Add.1 and 1213) were issued in restricted distribution. No corrections to the records of the closed meetings were received.

With the issuance of the present corrigendum, the summary records of the meetings held by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at its fiftieth session are to be considered final.

As far as central Government was concerned, its functions in Northern Ireland were subject to the Policy Appraisal and Fair Treatment (PAFT) guidelines, which ensured that issues of equality and equity conditioned policy-making and were central to all spheres of Government activity. The guidelines were designed to ensure fairness between ethnic groups and between people of different religious beliefs, political opinions, gender, age, marital status and sexual orientation.
